More Health Benefits for Early Birds Who Use Their CPAPs Longer

Everybody has a biological clock. Depending on when your body usually wants to get up and go to sleep you could be...

  • Early Birds (Morning Chronotype ) - Go to sleep early and wake up early in the morning.
  • Night Owls (Evening Chronotype) - Stay up late and wake up later in the day.
  • Intermediate Chronotype - Exist somewhere between an early bird and a night owl.

Doctors at Yale wanted to determine if sleep apnea patients with certain sleep schedules used their CPAPs more than others. They found out that Early Birds used their CPAPs for 30-40 more minutes than patients with other chronotypes.

Sleep apnea affects 1 in 7 people worldwide. During apnea events your breathing is interrupted by closed airways which cause your brain to wake you. You can have 10-15 sleep apnea events per hour of sleep or up to 100 an hour for those with serious cases of sleep apnea. Sleep Apnea causes short and long term negative health effects like fatigue, high blood pressure, cardiovascular issues, and even cognitive issues like dementia.

Daily use of your CPAP is the most effective way to treat and prevent sleep apnea and its negative health effects. A CPAP reaches full effectiveness when used all night, every night. Unfortunately , after one year of use, half of all patients stop using their device because they find it difficult or uncomfortable to use. The Micro was built to make sleep therapy a breeze with easy to use buttons, battery compatibility, and a tiny, travel-friendly footprint. The more you use your CPAP, the farther you get in your fight against sleep apnea.
